In the midst of tensions between The United States of America and North Korea, the possibility of nuclear war is still unclear.
On August 17, President Donald Trump has assured the American people by remarking “If North Korea decides to initiate nuclear war, they will be met with fire, and fury like the world has ever seen.”
Furthermore, his proclamation toward North Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un in which he nicknamed “Rocket Man”, seemed to increase hostility between the two nations.
There has been a declaration from North Korean Deputy U.N ambassador Kim, In Ryeong, “No other country will be harmed as long as it does not participate in any military retaliations with the United States.”
Ryeong told the U.N general assembly that North Korea is the only country that has always been individualized as an extreme threat to nuclear missiles from the United States since the 1970’s.
The People’s Republic states that the U.S aims to “Plan a secret operation in order to overthrow our supreme leadership. Afterwards, they followed up by saying, “With all the hostility against our country, it should seem right that we defend ourselves by assembling nuclear weapons in the case a war breaks out.”
There have been efforts to resolve the situation by attempting to create a diplomatic talk between the two nations.
The People’s Republic has rebutted with a statement that “Unless all hostile policies, and nuclear threats of the United States have been thoroughly eradicated, we will never put our nuclear weapons, and ballistic rockets on the negotiating table under any circumstances.”
It seems that North Korea has not yet closed it’s doors on diplomatic talks, but wishes to avoid it for now, considering the current hostility between the two nations.
It is unclear whether or not a nuclear war might occur, but many Americans believe that the verbal insults between the supreme leader and the president does not benefit the U.S. in any way.
