In 2016, the eleventh season of NBC entertainment competition show America’s Got Talent aired, a show in which contestants use their significant abilities to perform against different people with various talents.
12 year old Grace VanderWaal, first came onto the stage and was recognized for her singing and ukulele audition with an original song, titled “Don’t Know My Name”
The original audition was given a strong approval from show judge Howie Mandel. This earned her a golden buzzer, and she was branded as “the next Taylor Swift”.
“I Don’t Know My Name” won her the show in the finale, promising her a sum of 1 million dollars and a headlining show in Vegas.
She headlined four sold out shows in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, performing with fellow America’s Got Talent finalists.
After releasing previous EP Perfectly Perfect in 2016, the 11th season winner went on to announce the release of Just The Beginning, her first and forthcoming album.
Just The Beginning, is a perfect mix of pop and acoustics, as well as a sense of playfulness and innocence. VanderWaal, delivers her voice with high octaves and notes, showing the originality and complexity of her voice.
The 13 year old’s full length album is streaming everywhere, and has been released since November 3rd.
