As 2018 draws to a close, the box office has a few surprises to end the year on a good note.

The first of those surprises is the film Mary Poppins Returns, a sequel to the 1964 Disney film; the movie will take place twenty-five years after the events of the original picture, with the two child protagonists, Jane and Michael Banks, who are now adults, receiving another visit from their childhood nanny. Starring A-list celebrities—such as Emily Blunt (who will portray Mary Poppins), Meryl Streep, Lin Manuel Miranda, and Dick Van Dyke, the only returning cast member from the original—Mary Poppins Returns will hit theaters on December 19.

Next the standalone film for a popular comic book character: Aquaman. This movie, which is the sixth in the DCEU series , stars Jason Momoa as the titular character caught in the center of an inevitable clash of worlds, and will be released on December 21.

One picture that will definitely give people laughing cramps: Holmes and Watson, starring comedic icons Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, the duo behind such classics as Step Brothers (2008) and Talladega Nights (2006). The film, coming to theaters December 21, follows the pair as the legendary detectives Sherlock Holmes (Ferrell) and John H. Watson (Reily) on a mission to protect the Queen of England from an untimely demise.
