Recently, Nogales’ band and colorguard teams were invited to perform at the New Year’s Day Parade in London (LNYDP).

To celebrate this special occasion, during fifth period on October 25, 2018, the Nogales High School Noble Regiment Marching Band was officially invited to perform in the LNYDP on January 1st, 2020. The honorary invitation was presented by Bob Bone, the executive director and founder of the LNYDP, along with the London Dignitary and great grandson of Winston Churchill, Duncan Sandys.

Millions of people tune in every year to watch the LNYDP, both in person and on live television.

The award-winning Noble Regiment has also performed twice at the New York Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2008 and 2015. With this upcoming London trip, the Noble Regiment will be one of four schools to represent the West Coast.

Nogales considers this a huge honor, and the students are very excited to this unique opportunity:  “Our hard work is shown through an event like this, where we have the opportunity to perform for millions of people,” explains Gabriel Perez, a sophomore alto saxophone player of the Nogales band.

In order to prepare for the invitation, students, staff, and the London staff from LNYDP were treated to an outdoor performance by the Noble Regiment in front of the cafeteria and multi-purpose room.

The actual invitation event was a success. Mr. Lopez, intervention and support counselor of Nogales High School, wrote in an email to Nogales staff, “There were many details that needed to come together to make it happen and we couldn’t be more grateful for the team that pulled it off.”

Although January of 2020 seems like a long time from now, the Nogales Noble Regiment will need to work extremely hard under the direction of Mr.Pollock, to prepare for their LNYDP performance. The students, staff, and parents of Nogales High School are anxious for the Noble Regiment’s London New Year’s Day Parade performance on January 1st, 2020.
