On Friday November 2, the Nogales varsity football team is playing in the first round of CIF against John Glenn High School after wrapping up the regular season and winning the Montview League championship.

The team is entering CIF for the second consecutive year after losing in overtime in a heartbreaker against Silver Valley High School in the second round of CIF last year.

The Nogales football team comes into the CIF championship with a 5-5 win-loss record and 4-1 in league games. Their one and only league game loss was an away game against Gladstone, where they suffered a score of 7-21 which ended their perfect record this year in league play.

The week prior, the Nobles defeated Azusa High School in a home match in which they secured their second consecutive league title after four straight league victories against Workman, Duarte, Sierra Vista and Azusa.

The football players are feeling good after winning the league and are looking forward to the first round CIF game. When asked how he felt about winning league, Sophomore Defensive-End Isaiah Serrano expressed, “At this rate winning league is something that is expected of us, now we need to focus more on making a good CIF championship run.”

The Nobles are prepared to win the first round of CIF, here in Nogales at 7:00pm which will allow them to advance into the second round.
