Earlier last month, the Nogales girls’ Water Polo team competed against the Wilson High School Wildcats.

On November 15, 2018, our Lady Nobles of the Varsity team played their hearts out again at their first pre-season home game.

The Nogales water polo team had very high hopes for their game. Marco Garcia, the team’s coach, confidently asserted, “I think it will be a good game because we have been practicing and utilizing new offense strategies.” He also stated that there was room for mistakes and improvement due to “many new players,” and that the first game is a learning experience for the team.

Within a short span of five minutes, the Lady Wildcats were able to score three successive goals, bringing the score to 0-3.

Wilson continued scoring until a score of 0-7 by the end of the second quarter. The Lady Nobles were extremely discouraged by their weak offense and defense. Frustrated shotcalling was being made on both sides of the pool, as Nogales spectators watched the game in disappointment.

Game patterns were consistent throughout the game until the final score of 0-13.

Although the game was a very tough loss for the Lady Nobles, they remain hopeful for future games. Doris Fong, a sophomore, stated, “It was definitely a rough experience for the team, but we tried our best and will continue to try our best.”
