In the early summer month of June, movie enthusiasts will be flocking to theaters to watch spin-offs, such as Dark Phoenix, Men in Black: International, and the highly anticipated squeal Toy Story 4.

Dark Phoenix (2019), directed by Simon Kinberg, is a movie based on the X-Men characters and movie saga. The film is about one of the X-Men, Jean Gray (Sophie Turner), who is nearly killed and hit by an unknown cosmic force that makes her mind spiral out of control. This force, known as the Phoenix, makes Jean more powerful, but it also makes her unstable. Once they reach their home, the battle aliens who gave her the Phoenix force want to use the abilities she has to make her rule the galaxy. This motivates the X-Men to team up in order to fight the force to save not only Jean, but the galaxy as well.

Men in Black: International (2019), directed by Felix Gary Gray, is a spin-off and the fourth film from the Men In Black series. The film, which stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, is about agents who travel around the world to try to save it, after there is an attack from aliens.

Last but not least, is Pixar’s upcoming film, Toy Story 4. This is the fourth and last installment of the series that spans 2 decades Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2 (1999), and Toy Story 3 (2010). In the new film directed by Josh Cooley, some time has passed since Andy gave his childhood toys to Bonnie, who created a new toy named Forky (Tony Hale), to join the other toys. The problem though, is that Forky feels that he is not suited to be a toy and he leaves during a road trip. Woody (Tom Hanks) observes that Forky is a significant toy for Bonnie and also leaves trying to bring him back. Hanks, explains how emotional he felt during the final scenes: “I couldn’t even get through the last scene. They’ve got great characters but a couple of scenes toward the end were really hard to get through.”

Dark Phoenix is hitting the theaters on June 7, Men in Black: International is premiering nationwide on June 14 and Toy Story 4 coming out on June 21.
