Recently in the YouTube community, the YouTuber with the highest number of subscribers, PewdiePie, has been taken over by a YouTube channel named T-Series. The channel appeared out of nowhere onto the leaderboard and it’s subscriber count is growing exponentially and competitively.

PewDiePie, a Swedish YouTuber, is known for his gaming content and commentary, while T-Series is an Indian music label owned by Company- Super Cassettes.

On April 1st, 2019, T-Series surpassed PewDiePie by 15,000 subscribers.  Both of the YouTube channels have reached 92 million subscribers and are continually surpassing each other.

PewDiePie has had the most subscriptions since December 23, 2013. He has held the title of “Most Subscribed YouTuber” for 5 years. In response to T-Series subscription record, PewDiePie created song called “Congratulations.” After he uploaded this, PewDiePie’s subscriber count went up by more than 100,000 and took over T-Series once again.

YouTuber, Mr.Beast, has been trying to save PewDiePie’s spot in the competition. Mr. Beast promoted PewDiePie at the SuperBowl by convincing his large group of friends to wear shirts that spelled out, “Sub 2 PewDiePie.”

Freshman, Jason Pesigan, a huge fan of PewDiePie, has strong opinions about this internet battle. “I think that it’s all for fun of course but I believe everyone would rather have a creator on YouTube rather than a corporate company win.”

The king of YouTube, PewDiePie and his rival, T-Series, are going head-to-head, now at this point, this is a race to 100 million subscribers.
