Last month, Nogales had their annual senior luau. On September 18, all the seniors were invited to eat Hawaiian food and watch live entertainment.

Students were dressed in Hawaiian attire to match the theme of the event. Everyone was welcomed at the door with a lei as students gathered in the Multi Purpose Room to eat, socialize, and take pictures in the photo booth. It was also a place to meet new people. One of the seniors, Natalie Ponce said “I thought it was really cool, I saw new faces that I have never seen before.”

After the dinner, the students headed outside to watch the performance. The show began with Hawaiian music and short stories were told. Alanis Bustamante, a senior, said, “I thought it was really interesting to see a different culture and dances. My favorite part was the kid joining the dance.”

The students also participated in learning the different dances with the performers and the unique chants. There was also a male fire dancer, which had all the students on the edge of their seats. He came out with a torch and presented dangerous fire tricks.

It was an exciting experience for everyone. The night ended with a group picture and a loud Aloha.
