On October 1st, popular game franchise, Call of Duty, came to mobile devices on both the App Store and Google Play Store.

The start of the long running franchise, Call of Duty was first released back in 2003. It quickly gained popularity as many people enjoyed the first-person shooter game genre, and it’s multiplayer gameplay.

Call of Duty is one of the most recognizable games in the world. It’s popularity has made the developers, Activision, create over 16 titles, with the most recent title coming out October 25, 2019, called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The games among this franchise are usually produced for home consoles, such as the Playstation 4, Xbox one, and the Nintendo Switch. Call of Duty: Mobile is the first game in the franchise to not be released on a console. It’s silent release was a surprise to many fans.

Sophomore, Christine Carter, expressed how she liked the mobile version of the game: “ I like Call of Duty: Mobile  because you can play it whenever and wherever.” 

Call of Duty: Mobile’s popularity has been at peak since its initial release on October 1st of this year. The game was ranked number 1 in the App Store in the free games category for the past two weeks.

When asked if there will be any new content in store for the game, President of Activision, Rob Kostich conveyed: “The community has a lot to look forward to as Call of Duty: Mobile grows and continues. This is just the beginning.”
