On January 10th, 2020 Selena Gomez released her highly anticipated album Rare, after five years since releasing her last album Revival. The album consists of 13 songs which include 2 collaborations, one of them being with Kid Cudi and another with 6lack.

The album has hit the Number 1 spot on the 200 Billboards album charts with her leading song “Lose You to Love Me”

In her new songs, she talks about her growth in the past years.

In an interview she had with Lulu Garcia- Navarro, from NPR, Selena Gomez claims to have been a victim of emotional abuse from past relationships and talks about her struggles with mental health and anxiety.

“Taking care of your mental health- thats forever. That’s something I will have to continue to work on. Yes, I don’t think I just magically feel better. I have days where it’s hard for me to get out of bed, or I have major anxiety attacks.”

In a Tik Tok ad that came out for the album, the comments were about her other albums were better. After actually listening to the album, I can now confirm that I disagree and this  was worth the wait.

Even though, there were a lot of good songs on the album my favorite song is “Rare”. This is also Selena’s favorite and the most meaningful song along with “Vulnerable”.

Gomez talked about “Vulnerable” to Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show: “It was just a way of me hoping I could just be a voice for the people who are in the same situation im in”.

Recently, Gomez seems the happiest she has been in a long time, now that she is working on her mental health and has shared her struggles.
