On October 6th, 2020, Eddie Van Halen, from the rock band Van Halen, passed away at the age of 65 after his long battle with cancer.

Eddie Van Halen was known for being the lead guitarist and main songwriter of the famous classic rock band, Van Halen. Some of the band’s most popular songs are “Jump,” “Panama,” and “Runnin’ with the Devil.”

Van Halen’s music was very influential and inspired many other artists and groups. Eddie is known as one of the greatest guitar players in rock history and became part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, making him a major figure in music history.

Unfortunately, the rock legend suffered from throat cancer for over 10 years before losing his battle to the disease on October 6th, 2020, dying at age 65. Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang Van Halen, expressed the following on an Instagram post the day of his father’s passing: “I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewilk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.”

When asked about Eddie, senior Reggie Diaz said the following: “Well, his influence is immense. I would say he inspired an entire generation to pick up a guitar.”

Although Eddie Van Halen died, it doesn’t mean his music went with him; he played an important role in the music industry and will be remembered greatly for it. Van Halen is still a huge inspiration to others and will continue to impact modern music.
