Bryston Tiller’s new studio album, A N N I V E R S A R Y, released on October 3rd, 2020, three years after his second album, True to Self. Tiller had a handful of singles and a new deluxe version of his debut album, T R A P S O U L, on the 25th of September as a tease.

The album, consisting of 10 songs with a total runtime of 31 minutes, blurs the line between singing and rapping. He narrates his idea of love through romance, rejection and lustful come-ons. Each song swathes the feeling of romance that goes from euphoria to the feeling of turmoil that stems from heartbreaks.

Fans of Tiller feel that the album did not live up to their expectations. Junior, Ricky Mendoza, feels that “[The album] was good. But not as good as his others.” Although the album may not have lived up to its high presupposition, there are still a few songs that are exceptionally good.

“Outta Time”, which features rapper Drake, is arguably the best song on the album although debated amongst fans, really driving home society’s proneness for grimy romances. “Things Change”, is the runner up, demonstrating how one should be brutally honest in giving closure to themselves and to their ex after a relationship has ended.

With this album, Tiller seizes his second No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. Tiller showed some family love as he tweeted out, “ I wanna dedicate this new album to my granny. I love you.”
