Rapper King Von, shot dead after argument

On Friday, November 6th, 2020, rapper King Von and two other groups were arguing outside a hookah lounge. The tensions escalated, and it quickly resulted in gunshots being fired,  leaving King Von in critical condition. 

Dayvon Bennett, also known as artist King Von, was shot along with two other people outside the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta. According to the police at the scene, Bennett was fired at during the shootout and then rushed to a nearby hospital where he soon passed away. 

The officers released a statement that Bennett was caught in the crossfires. The police are claiming, “At this time, our investigators believe Mr. Bennett was shot during the initial shootout between the two groups of males before police responding and attempting to stop the shooting.” 

The Atlanta Police Department is investigating to find out who was shot by the officers and who was shot by the suspects during the shooting. Timothy Leeks, the main suspect behind the shooting, was also injured and was in custody at Grady Memorial Hospital where he got treated for his gunshot wound. 

In addition to Leeks’ arrest, two other suspects, Kevin Jones and Johnny Harris, were taken into custody as well. Charges are expected against them for being involved in the gunfire.

The new and upcoming rapper was on the verge of a breakout and had just  released his third studio album, Welcome to O’Block. When news of his death reached the world, various celebrities expressed their grief on social media along with thousands of fans. Nogales High School student, Clarissa Jimenez, was upset by the loss of this rapper’s life: “It is saddening to hear that another rapper has died, especially when their career was just starting to take off. ”
