It was recently announced that there is a possibility that in March 2021, the very popular show, The Vampire Diaries, might premiere its 9th season, following what was believed to be the show’s final season back in 2017. This news quickly gathered excitement for fans of the series.

While supporters anticipate this new season release, the exact release date remains unknown. However, they have stated that they would like to start filming once the pandemic is over.

Despite their claims, nothing has been finalized just yet, leaving some fans disappointed. Junior, Jennissie Castaneda, states, “The Vampire Diaries is one of my favorite shows. I hope they make the new season.”

It has been announced that three of the most arguably beloved characters will have to be recast.  Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore, discusses how he would not be able to fulfill the role of a teenager. Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, who took the roles as Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore, also decided to not participate in season 9.

While this trending show on Netflix may not release as of 2021, dedicated fans still wait for news, but they have their doubts as well.  Freshman, Raylene Ramirez, states, “I watched this whole show maybe about three times. It is one of my favorites, and I honestly do not think it will come back.”

While the decision is up to the producers, hopefully the show’s legacy will continue to live on with season 9.
