Nogales High School Senior and IB diploma candidate, Fernando Rax (pictured far left at the National Honor Society), becomes the recipient of the Questbridge National College Match Scholarship. He received a full 4-year scholarship worth over $200,000 to attend Vassar College in New York. Recipients are also granted early admission to their committed college.

The Match Scholarship is given as part of a generous financial aid package provided by the college of choice. It covers the cost of attendance, tuition and fees, room and board, books, supplies, and travel expenses, leaving the student with no student loan debt.

Rax chose Vassar College for its open curriculum. This allows him to explore his interests since he is unsure of his major. “However, I am leaning towards a major in the social sciences,” shares Fernando.

Rax is most looking forward to getting out of his comfort zone and, “Being in New York surrounded by countless opportunities.” He is excited to have his education fully funded for over the next four years, giving him the freedom to explore opportunities that he wouldn’t have without this scholarship.

To obtain this scholarship, Fernando had to become a QuestBridge Finalist. This allowed him to rank schools he was interested in, Vassar College being one of them.

According to QuestBridge, “over 27,000 Finalists have been admitted to a college partner.” More information on how to apply for a Questbridge National College Match Scholarship can be found on their website, https://www.questbridge.org/
