On March 9th, the highly anticipated update for Season 8 of Apex Legends was released.

The update introduces a new legend, a new weapon and the new Mayhem Battle Pass. Along with the new additions, there were also changes to the “King’s Canyon” map and to ranked matches.

The newest legend is named Fuse, a character with many explosives as part of his kit. He is designed to be an easy character for new players to pick up on while also learning how to navigate through the game.

The update for the ranked matches enables players to rank up easier. It also makes match-making a lot tighter, as players go against opponents of a closer skill level.

Furthermore, the game is also released on Nintendo Switch, which will hopefully expand the game’s growing playerbase.

Daniel Rax, a student who has long awaited for a game that has cross platform play available, shared, “It’s a highly long awaited game that Nintendo fans have been asking for. It’s a great way for them to experience Apex Legends for the first time and they have another cross platform game to play with their friends.”

Fans of Apex have very mixed feelings about the new update; on the positive side, players like the addition of being able to play with more people and friends who use the Nintendo. The game is a lot more beginner friendly, making ranked matches feel more fair and enjoyable.

On the other hand, many players complain about the increased packet loss and high ping from servers. Reddit user Repulsive-Effect-702 explained, “My only problem is the servers. I haven’t been able to grind at all this season because the server lag and packet loss is so bad.”

Overall, the whole release of this season is made to welcome new players without overwhelming them with some of the more complicated aspects of the game while also making the game easier for older players.
