Volleyball team reaches the CIF tournament

Juan Perez, Senior

This past October, our Nogales varsity volleyball team reached the CIF tournament after winning their respective league.

Nogales was set to face the volleyball team from Big Bear High for the opportunity to progress the complex tournament and to ultimately achieve the main prize: the CIF championship.

Despite the positive sensations, this match was unfortunately the last game of the season. The girls had all the momentum as they were playing home but sadly, they fell against Big Bear with a scoreline of three sets to one.

Despite the early loss in the tournament, varsity volleyball player and senior, Stephanie Nungaray, was proud of this season’s outcome: “I feel accomplished that the volleyball team made history in this school.”

Even though our volleyball team did not achieve the championship, their hard work and commitment should not go unnoticed, as they tried until the end. They still made their mark at Nogales, being the first volleyball team in school history to advance this far in the competition.
