Nogales Cross Country Featured Several Athletes in CIF Race

The Nogales Cross Country team had their league finals at Azusa High School. The girls varsity team took 2nd place overall and the boys varsity team took 3rd.

In terms of individual positioning, senior Natalie Pelaez placed 2nd with a time of 22:66 and sophomore Brenda Diaz placed 5th with a time of 24:00. Both athletes will be moving on to CIF prelims. In the boys section, sophomore Christian Morales, who placed 4th with a time of 18:00 and junior Kevin Pedroza who placed 10th with a time of 19:15 have also made it to the CIF prelims. 

Jeremy Mestas, a Freshman on the Varsity team explains how proud he is of his teammates: “I feel that they deserved to go to CIF and I am proud of all of them. They worked hard to make it there and I hope to see them make it next year too.”

Cross country coach Mrs. Delfin expresses how honored she is to be coaching this team: “The coaching staff is extremely proud of our athletes’ hard work and commitment to cross country. Their dedication and perseverance are what got them to CIF and will continue to aid them with their success in anything they put their mind to.”
