Last Month’s Blood Drive to Save Hundreds of Lives

Juan Perez, Senior

On November 9th, Nogales’ ASB held a blood drive with the American Red Cross. The event took place inside the school’s multi purpose room (MPR) from 8:15 AM to 2:15 PM.

This year’s blood drive was a success, as the school goal of 40 donors was surpassed by 15 participants.

An average person donated a pint of blood which is equal to about half a liter. The amount of blood each volunteer donates will save about 3 people’s lives. All 55 donors will potentially help over 150 people.

Senior and blood donor Joaquin Bustamante was pleased to be part of this event. “I’m happy that  I was able to donate blood. I’ve been waiting for this, as I have the opportunity to help out people in need.”

This honored tradition of ASB supporting the Red Cross has been going on for years and Nogales students step up annually to help and reach the goal.
