Nogales’ Second Dance of the Year is in the Works

Melanie Mendez-Perez, Senior

The Sadie Hawkins Dance is set to take place here on campus at the end of January 2022.

When asked to give a description of the event, Spanish teacher and ASB director, Ms. Garcia-Estrada stated, “The Sadies dance is a special event in which girls ask out boys.” Guys usually invite a woman out to school dances. However, girls are typically the ones to ask out a date for this specific occasion.

This event originated from a comic. The name Sadie derives from a character named Sadie Hawkins, who was created by the cartoonist Al Capp.

Ms. Garcia-Estrada also gave a few details in regards to the location: “This event will be taking place outdoors in the quad and it will fall on January 28, 2022.”

The theme for the dance will be revealed in the month of December. ASB is requesting that both boys and girls dress up in formal attire. Tickets will also be available for purchase once we return from winter break.
