Game development company 343 Industries, owned by parent company Microsoft, was finally allowed to release their game, Halo Infinite. This game was released on December 8th, 2021, and is free to play for all Xbox and PC players.

Halo Infinite is a first-person shooter game and is the seventh installment in the Halo series. This game is about a military space force made up of marines and super-soldiers called Spartans. You play as a spartan, Master Chief, and you travel to a man-made planet to fight a group of aliens called The Banished who plan to destroy humanity.

There are two modes: a single-player mode where you play the story of the game in an open world and a multiplayer mode where matches are played against real people by fighting in teams on an enclosed map.

The gameplay has been seen as the best of the series by many because the game is fast-paced and rewarding when you do well.

Senior Ricky Mendoza shares his experience with the game itself: “I have never played Halo before, but this game is really fun, every part of the gameplay feels satisfying.”

Halo Infinite was in the works for over three years, initially announced at video game convention E3 in the summer of 2018.

Halo 5: Guardians, Halo’s newest release before Infinite, was perceived as one of the worst games, if not the worst out of the seven games from this franchise. Halo fans were waiting for the next game almost immediately, making the pressure higher for 343 Industries to deliver a better successor.

Senior and Xbox player Jeffery Alvarez expressed his disappointment with the Halo series in the past: “I was very disappointed with the last Halo, I hope the next game is good.”

Although Halo Infinite does not have too much substance, the foundation of this game is strong, and players are excited for the future of this game as more content will be added.
