The first episode of the long-awaited season 4, part 2 of Attack on Titan (Japanese: Shingeki no Kyojin) was released in early January. MAPPA, the animation studio behind the series, has confirmed there are a total of 12 episodes.

With its first season airing in April 2013, this anime has gained worldwide popularity over the years, making it one of the fastest-growing shonen anime in Japan.

Attack on Titan’s cult-following fanbase is ecstatic to watch Hajime Isyama’s new season unfold. Sophomore, Christopher Romero, has been waiting years to find out how the characters will resolve the existence of the titans: “It’s crazy to see that at the beginning of the series Eren began his journey with the survey corps to avenge his mother but his goal rapidly began to change as he kept finding out new information on the existence of the titans.”

Early last year, fans began to make theories in regards to the anime’s ending. Among these predictions, TikTok user @thoughtsfromshivam explained an idea that gained traction on the social media site: “We’re just watching flashbacks of Armin’s story from a book he left in the future, that’s why we hear his voice in the narration. This could also imply that Armin is the real hero in the end.”

The first episode of Attack on Titan season 4, part two released on January 9th, 2022. New episodes are released every Sunday on anime platforms Crunchyroll and Funimation.
